A Team Built on Expertise and Care
Laboratory medicine is often described as the invisible backbone of healthcare — the discipline whose outputs are everywhere in clinical decision-making, but whose practitioners are rarely seen by the patients they serve. At DLS, we believe it is worth knowing a little about the people who process your samples and produce your results.
Our Laboratory Scientists
DLS employs qualified medical laboratory scientists across all analytical departments: haematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, serology, and immunology. Our scientists hold degrees and diplomas in medical laboratory sciences and maintain their professional registration with the Medical Laboratory and Clinical Scientists Council of Zimbabwe.
Our Phlebotomy Team
Your first point of contact with DLS is usually a member of our specimen collection team. Our phlebotomists are trained in venepuncture, capillary collection, and patient communication — particularly important when working with anxious patients or young children. Getting a quality sample, first time, without distress, is a skill that deserves recognition.
Reception and Support Staff
Behind the scenes — the reception team, administrative staff, and logistics personnel who ensure results reach referring doctors, patients receive their reports, and the laboratory runs smoothly as an operational unit. Together, this team has been serving patients and clinicians in Bulawayo since 2009.
