Taking the Lab to the Workplace
Corporate wellness events represent one of the most effective ways to reach working adults who rarely visit a clinic. DLS participated in a Corporate Wellness Day in Bulawayo, bringing on-site laboratory screening directly to organisations across the city.
What We Offered on the Day
Our team set up a dedicated screening station offering rapid point-of-care testing for fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, and blood pressure measurement. Employees who had fasted from the previous evening received results within minutes and discussed them with a member of our team on the spot.
We screened over 150 employees across the event, identifying a number of individuals with elevated glucose readings or cholesterol levels who were previously unaware of their risk. Each was advised to follow up with their doctor and offered a referral for full laboratory panels at DLS.
Why Corporate Screening Matters
The working population is the most under-screened demographic in Zimbabwe. Metabolic conditions — diabetes, dyslipidaemia, hypertension — are prevalent, progressive, and preventable if caught early. Corporate screening events are an efficient way to reach this group in an environment they attend every day.
